How Do I Affix my New 4D Number Plates?
Traditionally, number plates were attached using screws. Yet, this method is no longer preferred since it can diminish visibility or distort the plate's lettering. Plus, incorrect drilling might lead to cracks.
We provide a variety of discrete DIY fixing solutions for you to select during your purchase.
Are Gel or Acrylic Number Plates Better?
Choosing between gel and acrylic number plate lettering is akin to comparing apples and oranges.
Gel offers a subtle, sophisticated touch, while acrylic delivers a crisp, bold appearance. We also have unique styles like ghost, matte, and more.
Whichever you choose, the outcome will undoubtedly be stunning. Trust your instinct, and you won't be disappointed.
Is it Necessary or Legal to have a Flag on my Number Plates?
Displaying a UK, SCO, ENG, or CYM flag on your plate is entirely legal and can significantly elevate the look of your plates, especially with our 4D flags.
If you're venturing outside the UK, the UK flag eliminates the need for extra stickers on your vehicle as an added bonus.
What is the Green Rectangle for on Number Plates?
Ever spotted a green badge on the number plate of fully electric vehicles? This badge sets your EV apart from non-EV counterparts. With it, you unlock access to areas like ULEZ and other zero-emission zones, ensuring you're ahead of the curve for any upcoming zero-emission incentives.
However, if the badge isn't to your aesthetic preference or doesn't offer tangible benefits in your locality, feel free to skip it. It's all about choice!"
Whats the Difference Between a 3D and a 4D Number Plate?
Ever been puzzled by the terms '3D' and '4D' when it comes to number plates? You're not alone. Before 2020, '3D' often referred to standard printed plates with a shadow "3D effect". Therefore the introduction of raised lettering was dubbed as '4D Number Plates' for differentiation.
Fast forward to today, and these labels have blurred. Different companies use the terms interchangeably, often marketing identical products under either banner. The reason? There's no strict definition for either term in the industry.
What Are the Requirements for a Number Plate to be Road Legal?
The DVLA has set specific guidelines to ensure number plates meet legal standards. Key visual criteria include:
- Font: The letters and numbers should be in a pure black colour, each measuring 50 x 79mm.
- Spacing: The characters on your plate must be spaced exactly as they appear on your V5 document.
- Legal Markers: Plates must display the name of their manufacturer as well as the BSAU mark."
Remember to always adhere to these standards to stay compliant on the roads.
